Inside the Sandfish Beta

Please Note: Sandfish is currently in active development. While it's functional for capturing ideas, we don't recommend migrating your primary database just yet. We are shipping updates fast, which means future versions may introduce breaking changes to early file structures. Our team is working relentlessly to reach your standard of excellence, and your insights will directly shape the stable release.
Who knows... maybe in the future you can be that friend who always brags about "I was there".

Sandfish's Roadmap

In today’s app ecosystem, you are forced to make a frustrating choice:

  • Either you hand over the keys to your privacy—letting massive corporations train AI on your personal knowledge and depending on slow, third-party servers just to get a smooth, intuitive app.
  • Or, you choose to be the sole owner of your data, but at the cost of spending days fighting configurations, installing endless plugins, and watching YouTube tutorials just to make the app usable.

  • We couldn't understand why no one had bridged the gap between the seamless comfort of the first and the privacy and zero-latency of the second.

That’s why we started Sandfish. We are building a note-taking app that adapts to you, not the other way around (We know you're tired of hearing the same thing over and over, we'll really try... 👀 ). A tool designed to let you create a true second brain on your own computer, and navigate it effortlessly.

Terms of Service

Effective Date: July 16, 2026
Welcome to Sandfish. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Sandfish application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Software"). By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Sandfish, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with them, you should not use the Software. Sandfish is currently provided as a beta version. Features, functionality, performance, and availability may change at any time as development continues. Some features may be incomplete, experimental, or removed without prior notice. Sandfish is designed as a local-first note-taking application. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, your notes, files, and personal content remain stored on your own device. The Developer does not provide cloud storage, account services, or synchronization as part of the current beta. You retain full ownership of all notes, documents, images, and other content you create using Sandfish. The Developer does not claim ownership of your content. The Software itself, including but not limited to its source code, compiled binaries, user interface, graphics, icons, documentation, design, architecture, trademarks, branding, and all associated intellectual property, is the exclusive property of the Developer and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. Sandfish is proprietary software. It is not open source, and no license is granted to access, copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, redistribute, sublicense, publish, commercialize, or create derivative works from any part of the Software except where such rights cannot legally be restricted under applicable law. You may use Sandfish for your personal or professional purposes in accordance with these Terms. You may not use the Software in any unlawful manner or in any way intended to damage, interfere with, or compromise the Software or its users. Because Sandfish is currently in beta, no guarantee is made regarding stability, compatibility, availability, or fitness for any particular purpose. While every effort is made to improve reliability, you are responsible for maintaining your own backups of any important data. The Developer is not responsible for data loss, corruption, interruption of service, or any damages resulting from the use or inability to use the Software. The Software is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted operation. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of Sandfish, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Feedback is welcome and greatly appreciated. If you voluntarily submit suggestions, ideas, feature requests, bug reports, or other feedback regarding Sandfish, you acknowledge that the Developer may use such feedback to improve the Software without any obligation to compensate, credit, or otherwise reimburse you. The Developer may modify, suspend, discontinue, or update any part of Sandfish at any time, including these Terms. Continued use of the Software after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. If you have questions regarding these Terms, you may contact the Developer at sandfish.notes@gmail.com or through the official Discord community. Thank you for testing Sandfish and helping shape its future development.

Sandfish Privacy Policy

Effective Date: July 16, 2026 Sandfish is built with privacy as a core principle. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected, how it is used, and what choices you have when using the Software. Sandfish is a local-first note-taking application. Your notes, documents, attachments, and other personal content remain stored on your own device. The current beta version does not require user accounts and does not automatically upload your notes or files to any server operated by the Developer. The current version of Sandfish does not include telemetry, analytics, advertising, tracking technologies, or data collection intended to monitor how you use the Software. The Developer does not collect information about your notes, writing habits, files, or activity within the application. The only personal information the Developer may receive is information that you voluntarily choose to provide. This may occur if you send an email, submit a bug report, request support, suggest a feature, or participate in discussions within the official Discord community. Such information may include your email address, Discord username, and any information you voluntarily include in your message. Any information you voluntarily provide will be used solely for purposes such as responding to your inquiry, improving Sandfish, fixing bugs, discussing feature requests, or communicating about the Software. Your information will not be sold, rented, licensed, or shared with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Communications sent through email or Discord are subject to the privacy practices of the respective service providers. When you choose to contact the Developer through these services, your use of those platforms is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Because Sandfish stores your data locally, you are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of your own files. The Developer cannot recover notes or documents that are lost due to hardware failure, accidental deletion, or other issues affecting your own device. Reasonable efforts are made to develop and maintain Sandfish securely. However, no software can guarantee absolute security, and you acknowledge that use of the Software is at your own discretion and risk. As Sandfish continues to evolve, this Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect new features or legal requirements. If significant changes are made, the updated version will be published with a revised effective date. If you have any questions regarding this Privacy Policy or your privacy while using Sandfish, you may contact the Developer at sandfish.notes@gmail.com through the official Discord community. Your privacy is one of the core principles behind Sandfish. The goal is to build software that respects your data by keeping it under your control whenever possible.
